General Internal Medicine
The General Internal Medicine department is dedicated to providing medical service to all patients: regardless of age, whose disease is undiagnosed, or who have multiple diseases and require comprehensive medical care. To provide the best patient-centered medicine, we can work in concert with the other clinical subspecialty departments and the Center for Patients Support in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Cardiovascular Medicine
The Cardiovascular Medicine Department is involved in treating diseases of the coronary arteries (angina pectoris, myocardial infarction), myocardial disease (cardiomyopathy, heart failure) arrhythmias, diseases involving the heart valves (valvular disease), congenital heart disease, vascular disease (arteriosclerosis, aortic aneurysm, vascular thrombosis), blood pressure issues (hypertension, Hypotension, syncope), and pulmonary vascular diseases (pulmonary hypertension, Pulmonary embolism). In our outpatient clinic we use state-of-the-art CT and MRA diagnostic methods against diseases such as angina and myocardial infarction. In our hospitalized patients, optical coherence tomography (OCT) is applied clinically, enabling us to evaluate coronary arteries more precisely. From a treatment perspective, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), stent placement, directional coronary atherectomy (DCA), Rotor Brator, and even advanced medicine such as excimer laser therapy are implemented. When dealing with emergencies, intensive care treatment is available in the Coronary Care Unit, 24 hours a day. Arrhythmias are treated by analyzing the intercardiac electrical phenomena in 3D using the newest diagnostic methods. Atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia are treated with catheter ablation. For those with serious heart failure, aggressive treatments such as surgical implantation of defibrillators and pacing in both ventricles with cardiac resynchronization therapy are performed. We also analyze genetic factors, patient characteristics background, and how they relate to the disease state to see how they might affect cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, cardiomyopathy, arteriosclerosis and hypertension, in order to provide feedback which can be used in therapy. In our Cardiovascular Medicine department, we strive to provide the best medical treatment possible for our patients.
Nephrology
In our Nephrology unit, we cover all patients in all stages of disease, from those who show asymptomatic mild proteinuria or hematuria, to those with water retention, or with a slight decrease in kidney function to those with late stage kidney failure who may require hemodialysis. We also see patients who have systemic diseases such as hypertension, or diabetes, or collagen diseases which led to the development of renal dysfunction. Other special diseases that we treat include electrolyte imbalances, secondary hypertension, and kidney stones. Furthermore, we deal in the diagnosis of complications that arise from long-term hemodialysis, as well as planning the treatment course for patients who require the treatment and apheresis.
