Visit to Bangladesh to Strengthen International Medical Collaboration

On May 9 and 10, 2026, representatives from the International Medical Communication Center (IMCC) of Kobe University Hospital visited Dhaka, Bangladesh, where they toured several healthcare institutions and held discussions regarding future medical collaboration.

Bangladesh is one of the fastest-growing countries in South Asia, with a population of approximately 170 million people. As economic development continues, demand for healthcare services is increasing rapidly. While Dhaka is home to several advanced medical institutions, some patients still seek specialized diagnosis and advanced treatment abroad. As a result, international medical collaboration and professional exchange are becoming increasingly important.

During the visit, meetings were held with hospital administrators, physicians, and medical coordination organizations to discuss potential frameworks for patient referral, medical information sharing, online consultations, and academic exchange between healthcare professionals. The delegation also introduced the advanced clinical services and medical technologies available at Kobe University Hospital and explored opportunities for future cooperation.

Kobe University Hospital is one of Japan’s leading academic medical centers, providing highly specialized care as a designated Advanced Treatment Hospital and promoting cutting-edge medical innovation as a Core Clinical Research Hospital. The hospital is also actively engaged in international healthcare, offering a range of services for overseas patients, including international patient acceptance programs and online second-opinion consultations.

This visit marks an important step toward strengthening medical collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan. Through continued cooperation, both parties aim to promote the exchange of medical knowledge and technology, support healthcare workforce development, and expand academic collaboration. Such partnerships are also expected to improve access to advanced medical care at Kobe University Hospital for patients who may benefit from specialized treatment options available in Japan.

IMCC will continue to foster international medical partnerships and contribute to the advancement of global healthcare by connecting patients around the world with high-quality medical services and expertise available at Kobe University Hospital.
